Why God?

In response to this past Sunday's reading from Habbakuk I'd like for us to discuss the following:

Why is it that when horrible things happen to people around us or people around the world we too easily blame God? Why do we ask why?

  1. It only seems natural. We praise God for all that we are grateful for. If God is responsible for blessing us with those things... doesn't it only seem logical that it is also God's responsible for the opposite, the lack of those things?

Many of us do the same thing as parents, we take great pride in raising our children well, and when they mess up, we often take it as our own mistake.

It seems as though our blessings and our misfortunes are really just two polar opposites, but how can God be a factor in one and not the other? I'm not sure it's logically possible for God to only have an influence on one end but not the other.
